Hydroponic Indoor Garden

Hydroponics is a system where the roots of the cultivated plants do not grow in soil, but in water. In order for oxygen and nutrients to constantly rinse the roots, the water is constantly kept in motion.

Hydroponics systems for indoor cultivation of herbs and vegetables have a tub in which a permeable vessel is hung in. In the plant vessel there is some stone wool, Perlite or Kokoserde. The substrate is used to keep the seeds moist and to give the first roots a foothold.

If the plant and thus the root is larger it can spread in the tub. Here, water is circulateded using a pump to bring in air bubbles. Thus the water remains in motion and is additionally enriched with oxygen.

LED Grow Lights #

Above the plant are LED-Grow Lights. Their spectrum is very well tailored to the plants. White light makes the plants appear more natural than the most effective blue and red light. Plants can best put blue and red waves in photosynthesis. green light, for example, almost not at all. White light is a mixture of different colors, which can be implemented less well both photosynthesis.

In the kitchen, herbs and vegetables look more natural in white light. Ideally, hydroponics systems with lighting should also use red and blue LEDs for faster and more lush growth.

Many hydro-units have a unit to switch on and off the light and pump. At the same time, they are reminded when new fertilizer is needed. For hydroponic fertilizers Special Nähstoff solutions are used which optimally respond to the conditions of cultivation in water.
